Saturday Mele: Celebrated Hawai‘i Musicians Perform in New Music Series
Your Saturdays are about to get a bit more musical. Join Waipuna as they help launch the “Kanikapila in Kailua” series Saturday, May 19 in Kailua Town.
The Na Hoku Hanohano Award-nominated band comprised of Kale Hannahs, Matt Sproat and David Kamakahi will perform 4-5:30pm on the second floor of the parking garage behind Longs and near Whole Foods Market.
The new series is sponsored by the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. “We are thrilled to support the region’s rich cultural legacy, its youth and families, and its natural resources,” says Terry George, executive vice president and chief operation officer of the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. “In the spirit of this mission, the Foundation, together with noted Windward O‘ahu-based musician Kawika Kahiapo, has created this Hawaiian music series. We are thrilled to be partnering with some of the most talented musicians in Hawai‘i.”
Future performances include Kaukahi on June 16 and Lehua Kalima on July 21. Pack up the ‘ohana, some beach chairs, grab some dinner and enjoy an authentic Hawaiian music experience. “The people of Kailua will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the best music in the state at ‘Kanikapila Kailua,’” says George.
